AL PANCHO

Owen Ricardo Brown, known professionally as Al Pancho, is a Jamaican artist, songwriter, deejay, producer, and owner of the label, Kingston Wall Music. He has released seven solo albums and over 50 singles including number one hits in Italy, Mexico, and Chile. For as long as he can remember, music has been a way for him to free his soul and maintain peace of mind.

Al Pancho was born on June 8, 1974 in Saint Mary Parish, Jamaica where his mother was a dressmaker and his father owned a car body shop. He was raised by his grandmother, and from the age of seven he worked as a fisherman to support the household. He discovered his passion for music at 12 years old when he began singing songs at his local church and entertaining friends at their homes. He became influenced by deejays such as Buju Banton and Shabba Ranks, and when he was 14 he moved alone to Kingston, Jamaica to pursue music.

Al Pancho’s music career took off when he was discovered by Bunny “Striker” Lee with whom he released his first singles at the age of 17. In 2001, he recorded the single, On a Mission, with Fidel Nadal, which reached number one in Mexico. In 2002, he had another number one hit in Chile with the single, Fuego, recorded with Gondwana. Al Pancho was the artist and songwriter of the track, Show Love, on the 2003 Serge Gainsbourg album, Mauvaises nouvelles des étoiles. His solo debut album, Righteous Men, was released in 2004 by Minor 7 Flat 5 followed by album, My Story, released in 2007 by I Dwell Records. His third album, Joy Bells Ringing, was released by Lustre Kings Productions in 2008. This album includes single, Unity is Strength, featuring Luciano, which reached number one on the billboard charts in Italy. In 2009, Al Pancho released his album, Farmer Man, followed by albums, Touch That Spot and Save the World, on his label, Kingston Wall Music. In 2016, his album, Skys the Limit, was released by QCI Records.

Al Pancho has also released singles with Lutan Fyah, Bounty Killer, Yami Bolo, Junior Kelly, Cornell Campbell, Natty King, Jah Mason, Natural Black, and Tony Tuff; worked with producers and labels Ghetto Youths Crew, Stephen Marley, Ziggy Marley, RAS Records, Clive Hunt, Alborosie, Blood and Fire, VP Records, Roots Tradition, Don Mais, and Junior Dodd; and toured with Fidel Nadal and Marlon Asher.

On his label, Kingston Wall Music, Al Pancho has released his own work as well as other artists out of Jamaica. Through music, Al Pancho seeks to break through racial boundaries, unite people, and promote harmony, all of which are goals inspired by his Rastafarian beliefs.
